More Vikingy Video Goodness

Good gym session this morning.
Although I'm slightly unhappy about the volume at which music is played in my gym, it's made up for by the fact that they have so many machines and pieces of equipment which my old gym didn't have that I'm content.
They have a proper abs machine, hyper extension bench, squat rack, T-bar row and lying leg curl amongst other things.
Glorious. They also have several calf machines which is great as my old gym only had one and I couldn't put enough weight on it to be properly effective.

This weekend was spent RPG'ing which was great fun.
[livejournal.com profile] blakeshell was the MC as always while [livejournal.com profile] britalian, [livejournal.com profile] galadkria and myself did our best to vanquish evil.
Sadly [livejournal.com profile] himal couldn't make it, and there was only a brief appearance of [livejournal.com profile] iamscritch.
Oh well, fortunately we all leveled up and my sudden ability to make peoples heads explode went down rather well :)

We ate a lot of food, drank a bit of beer/vodka/red wine and in the end we stopped as [livejournal.com profile] britalian was practically dead and the next day he had to be reminded of the last 30 minutes or so...
No hang overs the next day, so the intrepid adventurers continued on andamusingly laid the smackdown on a petty noble much to our amusement.
It's a remarkably dysfunctional group with severe trust issues between the characters... Highly amusing during play though.
And there were almost no doors.

Back in London.
That was an excellent holiday and [livejournal.com profile] gothicbarbiecat was a wonderful host.
She's also still alive despite my several attempts at crashing us into other cars or driving us off cliffs and into rocks and so on.
But seriously, I revved a bit too much once and I think she was a bit...unsettled by that.
Well, there was also the one time where she felt the need to pull on the steeringwheel. Well, I suppose it's never easy to be a passenger in your own car.
But it was a lovely holiday, and I hope to post pictures and a couple of movie clips soon...

Landed last night at 00:15. Ouch. The flight was a bit of a fun rollercoaster ride. Oh well, I think turbulence is fun :]
Sadly the guy next to me was trying to drink wine which meant that he smelled of white wine for the rest of the flight. Oh well, entertaining for me...
Finally got home at 02:00 and then I had to unpack and all the usual stuff after a holiday. Good thing I had today off.

So today I did my laundry (Mmmm, I like cats and I really love cat hairs), went to the gym, had second date with cute girl, RPG'ed and finally had dinner while watching Andromeda.
Today has been good :)

Some people really are incredibly impolite.
I'm sitting in our office prayer room, erm... meditating... and someone comes and knocks on the door to see if someone is in there and then asks how long I'll be.
There's a reason for the 'Room in use. Do not disturb' sign which one can put up when one is using the room.
*sigh*

At least last night was quite good.
We were meant to play D&D, but sadly [livejournal.com profile] himal cancelled on us when the rest of us were there.
Buty we decided to rent a movie and get soem take-away so the evening was not entirely spoiled.
[livejournal.com profile] blakeshell, Barbara and myself got The forgotten.
Reasonably good movie about a mother (Julianne Moore)who's the only person who can remember her dead son. Everyone else thinks she's a loony.
She then meet a guy whose daughter was a friend of her son, but oh noes, he can't remember his daughter or her son.
Things progress from there and it becomes a movie with some interesting bits and a few 'jump in your seat' surprises.
A recommendable movie which in my opinion is only let down by a weak ending, but that's because I don't like happy endings when an unhappy one would do just fine :)

So, Our first night RPGing.

We did really well until we came to a door.
Yes, we nearly got vanquished by a door.
After about 20 minutes prodding it I was finally persuaded to break it down.
I'm the groups magic user and I'm the strongest? WTF?
Oh well, it was fun :)
We then ran into a shrieking mushroom.
General consensus was that we should eat it :]
I then wacked it to pieces thus proving that anything immobile should fear my mighty wrath.
Some stalagmite then bit me in the ankle so I went down.
Our first aid kit [Barbara, winolj] had also gone down but fortunately we had a rather nasty beggar with us who managed to tear himself away from licking the stump of his arm long enough to give our First Aid kit a healing potion.
In the meanwhile, [profile] pranced around doing sweet FA while [profile] barely survived and got help from the beggar so we could all survive and move on to the next challenge.
27 skeletons and a golem I think.
Hooray for epic adventure and near death peril...
Hooray for pizza, beer and being 15 again :)

[livejournal.com profile] graven_fury, Let me know if you want to join. [livejournal.com profile] blakeshell is the DM, so you'll need to meet up and roll stats...

Do any of you lovely people have the official D&D details for the Norse pantheon of gods?
I know there was one a decade or so ago, but is there a newer one?
And would it be possible to find it in electronic format...?

I suppose a quick weekend rundown is in order.
Friday I went to see The Thought Criminals at The Caernavon(sp?) Castle in Camden.
I thoroughly enjoyed them as they didn't seem to take themselves too seriously and the music was enjoyable. Good fun.
Left when the next band came on.
No matter how badly the lead singer wanted to be Anthony Kiedis they couldn't overcome the fact that they had no discernable talent.
And just cranking up the volume to headache inducing levels does not help either. And just as a headache was beginning to appear we ([livejournal.com profile] blakeshell + OH + My good self) left to go to Dance of The Dead.
As the venue was cleverly disguised and not signposted we managed to go past it twice and when we finally found it I had to go home... Hmmph.

Saturday was spent at work and then of to White Hart in Holborn to roll up new D&D characters.Nice pub but hideously expensive. I generally don't like paying over £3 for a pint.
Our great and just DM let us roll 7 ability scores and disregard the lowest. Amazingly all of us managed to roll really ow on the 7th roll.
Dammit. My dice are cursed. 10, 11, 12, 12 15 and 16 are reasonable stats I suppose. I'll definitely be a sorceror, but I haven't decided on my second class. Possibly Warmage, but we shall see. I'm currently researching...
Left to get to The Dev in time for a couple of drinks and then home to sleep and damn that was well needed.

Nightwish gig Sunday (With [livejournal.com profile] elfenkind). Yay. Paradise Lost opened and played a good metal set.
then Nightwish came on. They seem to get better each time I see them. This gig was probably just as good as their set at Wacken but at Wacken I was all the way up close which made it even better.
Chicken Samosa, tube home and sleep.
Now work. Boo to werk...

So, I would appear to have bought some dice.
I'm now nearly ready to get back into RPG'ing...

Once I have The Players Handbook and whatever the current version of The Wizard's Handbook is these days I'll be away, as it were...
Scarily geeky :)

So, I have cancelled my WoW account.
I decided that I just couldn't be bothered.
The hours it took here and there could be better spent, and I really don't want to spend an entire Saturday here and there playing WoW. I'd rather spend it in the gym or playing something equally geeky: AD&D

It would appear that plans are afoot and it will be:
[livejournal.com profile] blakeshell Gamesmaster
[livejournal.com profile] mr_eleganza - Norse Battlemage (Wow, what a surprise)
[livejournal.com profile] britalian - Elf rogue, warrior or both
[livejournal.com profile] himal - Who knows what he will be...
WINOLJ="Barbara" - Animist Elf (Whatever that is. I think it's some sort of gypsy/hippie)

Yay, I'm suddenly 15 again :)
