And before I head off to the gym, I thought I'd just vent my spleen a bit more.

There's apparently a new virus/worm/trojan/whatever-you-wanna-call-it doing the rounds. And before the usual suspects start having a go at Windows users, how about changing the tune and having a go at the people who deserve it. Namely the users who can't be bothered to take even simple precautions...

The last time I had a virus/worm/whatever was back in '99, and that was due to being drunk. Remember kids, drinking while computing is dangerous, don't do it...

And while I'm on the subject...
I have to wonder whether I'm a social leper, or I only know people who know how to avoid virii and the like, 'cos when ever there's one of these outbreaks, I never seem to get more than one or two of these e-mails. Hmmm...

I'm such a non-geek I don't even understand what grounds geeks have for accusing Windows users. I've only ever had one virus and I thing the sprog was responsible for that. I've set my email not to open the next by default, and I've got a virus checker. Piece of piss, really. Whenever geeks rant and rail about the infestation of viruses on their Linux machine I'm genuinely puzzled. How come I avoid them, but professional geeks don't?

I should be a bit less smug or karma will come and get me ;o)

I just tend to delete e-mails from people who id don't know. As I generally consider it spam/someone sending me a nasty present.

Actually it is plural for virus.
As is virus'.
Neither is more correct than the other...

"virii" looks like a Latin conjugation, but if you study the actual rules of the language, it's a conjugation that doesn't exist.

Audio and video files are safe arent they? as far as I've been told the only way a virus can enter your system is if you install it from a data file or an eamil link? is that true?

Well, yes they are, but some virii masquerade as audio and video files, so you still need to be careful and make sure your anti-virus software is updated.
