Normall on Saturday mornings I go to the gym for a Tae Kwon Do-cise class but a couple of weeks ago it was announced that the class would be cancelled.
A great uproar followed and the class has been re-instated. Huzzah.
That gives me something to do tomorrow morning :)

Also, sometime next week I'll try to do the Men's Fitness Magazine Fitness Test.
It looks like it will be a gruelling test, but hopefully I'll do well.
I guess a Sunday morning would be a good time to do it.

Pretty high on the list of things that amuse me are guys who are so vain, that they try to lift weights that are far too heavy for them and as a result drop the weight on their own face.
Well, that'll teach him not to try to do dumbbell chest presses with a dumbbell so heavy that he needed a friend's help lifting it and couldn't even do one bloody rep with it.
Muppet.
If you can't do a single rep, the weight is too heavy. He's lucky he didn't tear a muscle.
I kinda saw them try from a distance and moved a bit closer to help if needed. Saw they were muppets and decided they needed to learn their lesson.
They deserved it as well for not clearing the weights away they were done.
Oh yeah, I guess they were too heavy for them to move away :)
Oh well, at least I was entertained while I gave my shoulders a good work-out.
Also, I am no longer stationed at Lehman Brothers and will be attending an interview at RBoS tomorrow. So anyone who has my work address at Lehman, don't bother using it as I won't see any e-mails sent to me there.

Other than that, the last week has been reasonably quiet and uneventful.

Viking training on Sunday was good and fun. It was bloody hot and we all had a good time with no bruises worth mentioning.
I also put an order in for a Scram (A type of long knife) which I can use as a secondary weapon. I just need to get an axe as well now.
Once I have the axe I'll obviously learn how to use that. And once that's accomplished, I'll start using them two handed. Mmmmm

I'm currently watching National Treasure which is a very entertainign little action movie. Not too deep, just a good yarn. I'll definitely recommend seeing it.

So, this week has come and gone and it's been OKish.
Work was boring, but I've been studying, so it's all good.
Friday I went to see [livejournal.com profile] camillat + SO and saw DVDs from the old country and ate foodstuffs from the fatherland. Also saw Bill Bailey for the first time. Very amusing.
Found my housemate sitting on the steps to our house when I came home as she had forgotten her keys when she left in the morning. Giggle.

Saturday I worked from 8 to 17:30. Ouch.
Then Cinema.
Attendees: [livejournal.com profile] purple_jo, [livejournal.com profile] walkingwhale and Jaqc.
Movie: Elektra
Verditct: OK - Worth seeing, but don't expect a fantastic, deep and meaningful movie. It's far better than Daredevil though, but that wouldn't take much anyway.
I am, however, really looking forwards to the directors cut as that might fill in some of the plot holes I noticed.
Also, the IMDB messageboards for Elektra is a hotbed of bitchiness and quite amusing :)
Sunday was gym day. Mmmm, gymming on Sundays is definitely a good idea. the place was deserted and all the equipment was available with no waiting. Excellent.
And I can nearly pull myself up. This is a great step forwards for me as I have never been able to do that before. And since I weigh 105kg (16 Stone) it's hardly easy.
Afterwards swordfighting, which was fun. [livejournal.com profile] purple_jo and [livejournal.com profile] walkingwhale came along and seemed to like it, so they will probably come along again, and they will try to drag [livejournal.com profile] penguin_worship along.
And now, bed :)

Christ sometimes I suck.
Went to the gym today, and I was absolutely pathetic. I could only do 50kg bench press, which is 20kg under what I normally do. And incline butterfly could only be achieved when I dropped down to 20kg per arm instead of my normal 26kg. Absolutely rubbish. I'm ashamed of myself and punished myself by spending 2 hours straight doing weights. At least my hammer curl is now up to 18kg, which is better than normal.
Still pathetic though. I will have to return on Saturday and do better. Significantly better.
I should probably admit that my warm-up was a bit more intensive than normal, but still....

And now I'm off to see AvP.
I have heard that it sucks might donkey-wang, but I still want to see it in the cinema.

It would appear that I need to train for a little run in the dark.
I should really blame [livejournal.com profile] fuck_m3_up as it was her idea.

I have recently joined Holmes Place in Wood Green after a 3 week break from the gym. When I started on their running machines, I was at first horrified at how out of shape I was after only three weeks. I then realised that the bastard treadmill was showing the speed and distance in imperial measurements rather than the far better metric measurements. No wonder I was having trouble running 13kph for a sustained period. It was 13mph. And trying to run 5km is easier than 5 miles.
Oh well, I'm also almost back to being able to lift the same weight before my unscheduled break, and this is good. Once I have reached my targets then I will concentrate on endurance and stamina.
I guess this might be mostly of interest to [livejournal.com profile] fuzball and [livejournal.com profile] fuck_m3_up but here are my immediate targets )
These are obviously just intermediate goals. Once I have achieved these (and I'm close), then I will concentrate more on endurance, stamina and cardio excercises.
At the moment I'm overtraining and I know it, but I'm making up for it by taking far too many vitamins, minerals, protein drinks (Mmmm, chocolate taste (: ) All in all it's good, and I'm slowly coming to the realisation that I am actually quite big in this country :->

New Thoughts, the mind expanding
Real Tasks, that are demanding
This Body is invincible
Perfection is the principle

The gym is going well, and I am in better shape than I have ever been, with the possible exception of when I was doing hard physical work in Israel. The above quote from Die Krupps' Iron Man is strangely ... Appealing at the moment.

I'm not going to write a full account of what I've been doing the past month as this entry would be far too long, but let's just say that this month has been in many ways rather uneventful.

I celebrated my birthday in my usual low-key way, by doing absolutely nothing exciting.
I did however get a rather cute cow from [livejournal.com profile] nailbug, and she also gave me a nice digital camera. Furthermore I got a Bill Hick biography from my housemate Andy.

With a bit of luck I may soon have a new job. I'll be doing stuff similar to what I'm doing now, but it won't be for Cap Gemini, and that's what counts...

I also came across a lost penguin :)

Strangely I can't find anything more to write about this month, so I guess it has been a slow one. And it guess that makes this a full account after all :)

Damn I feel great. I feel absolutely fan-bloody-tastic.

  • Beergut is getting noticably smaller (No beer + Situps++)

  • I'm getting muscles again (Weights++)

  • The weather is fantastic (Lack of air-con--)

  • I'm actually studying for my certifications rather than just talking about studying :)

  • I have the best constitution on the planet (I could probably get SARS, AIDS, cancer and The Plague all at once and my body would fight it off)

  • My Starcraft skills are excellent (I have just had three games against the maximum number of computer opponents and they were soundly thrashed)

  • I am so confident in my quest to quit smoking that I've thrown out all my ash trays (Nicotine patches++)

  • My financial situation is the best it's ever been

  • I have tickets for M'era Luna, Infest and Whitby

  • I have even managed to find a pair of glasses that fit me (I have a funny shaped skull, so glasses have never really been a good option before)

Probably the only downside at the moment is that I'm stuck in Ye Olde Scummy Hellhole rather than being in London, but once I have a few more certifications, that should hopefully be rectifiable. And I don't care if I just made that word up :)

All in all I feel so good that I suspect I'm disqualified from being a goth ;)
