Deployment type: Dawn of War

Space Wolves: Njal Stormcaller in TDA, 2x Lone wolf in TDA SS/TH, 3x 6xLong Fangs with MLs, 2x 10xGH with 2cPG 1xPF, 2x 5xGH with 1 flamer, 2x 3Swiftclaws +1Attack Bike 1xPF, 2xRazorbacks with TL-LCs.
Each Swiftclaw pack have a Wolf Guard with Combi-Melta/Frost Blade assigned assigned and one WG with with FrostAxe and Combi-Melta goes to my Grey Hunters.

Tyranids ([livejournal.com profile] cbr_paul):
1x Winged Hive Tyrant, 1x Shootyfex, 1 Zoanthrope, 20 or so Hormagaunts, 6x 10 or so Genestealers and 1 Broodlord with a 'stealer retinue.
I could be wrong on some of those as I don't know the tyranids too well...

And the game ends with a 9-9 draw.

So, what have we learnt from this? Well, I screwed up my deployment pretty badly, so I really deserved to lose. I'm happy it became a draw, that was better than I deeserved after such a poor deployment.

Other than that, I don't think either of us made any glaring mistakes. I have seen the effectiveness of Njal in slowing down enemies (I really must make notes of what he casts and when) and the skill with which Lone Wolves takes down MCs...

Thoughts/comments? (Other than comments regarding the unpaintedness of my army :-p)

Linux Day 3:

I have managed to figure out how to connect and partition a hard drive. It turned out to be slightly simpler than certain 'helpful' websites had led me to believe. So now I'm looking forwards to plugging the last two in, and see how I get on.

I have also managed to find a reasonably decent Solitaire clone. This is very important!

I have access to MSN Messenger via Pidgin and VLC is providing me with all I need to watch my pirate downloads (Yarrrr).
I haven't sorted out an e-mail client yet. I'm tempted to see if I can get Outlook 2007 to work with Wine.
I would prefer a nicer file system utility. I wonder if Midnight Commander or Norton Commander have some descendents for Linux...
That would be sweet...

I'll try to practice with the shell tonight. I'll need to move horrendous amounts of data around (about 1tb) so I'll have ample opportunity to try that out.

Then I'll also need to map network shares more permanently. I am supremely confident that I'll be able to do this.

Once that's done, and I don't think I'll get it all done tonight, then it's time to install and configure Compiz, it's basically a program that should enhance the user experience, and a music player...

In the meanwhile, I managed to finally get around to taking pictures of my full Warhammer Army )
178 Models
8300 Points

And when I posted the pictures I realised I had left one out... /sigh

And the other thing I'll be doing tonight and over the weekend is to paint...
I need to, at the very least, finishe off some of those tanks...

I have a bad habit of putting my drop pods a bit close to the edge and last night it finally bit me.
One DP with Rune Priest + Grey Hunters of the edge and a 1 on the mishap table.
/sigh
There went about a 5th of my army...
Oh, and my termies were gone after two vindi shots :-/
There went a third of my army.
All in the 1st turn...

Anyway, learn the lesson from my pain and hardship. Keep your Drop Pods well away from the edge >_

I always end up with a unit of Grey hunter that screw around in some bushes and never do anything. I have no idea why :-/
I'm disappointed by the performance of the LSMM, but overall very please with the LS with 2xHB each.
All in all most things went to plan and I recovered well from the small hiccups I had...

I think I'll have to offer a 2000pts vs 3000pts game so he might have a chance...

Gah, I really shouldn't have stayed up until 3am putting Land Speeders together...

Beyond tired today.

Made good use of magnets so I can swap out the weapon load-out quickly and easily.

And for my next trick I'll be putting a Land Raider Redeemer together using magnets strategically so I can swap out weapons easily and turn it into a Land Raider Crusader...

Anyway, on Monday I'll be playing a 3000 points battle against my Eldar nemesis who will fall before the might of the imperium...

So, I started collecting Warhammer 40.000 again last July after an absence of 13 years.
Naturally there was only one choice of army to use: Space Wolves

In the Imperium of Mankind in the 41st milennium there are only two forces:
1) Space Wolves
2) Support
:-)

So far I have:
So far I have: )
On these pictures I don't have 1x Leman russ tank, 1xLand Raider Redeemer and 2x Land Speeders as they are not quite assembled.

A very vesatile 5000 points worth of Space marines, and that's if I use them purely with the gear they're carrying around.
Now I just need to get them all painted...

Oh gawd I'm sooooo tired...

In hindsight, I probably shouldn't have stayed up till 2am painting Warhammer 40k models...
Yawn... But hey ho, they are coming along nicely...

My main problems at the moment are that I have no idea how to paint gray/graying hair and I can't get the faces right either...
And in my initial enthusiasm when I first got the models, I glued them together so there are areas I can't reach...
D'oh...

I'll put some more pictures up when I get the chance, but for now there are these two galleries:
Long Fangs
Rest of Army

It's obviously a Space Wolf army with a couple of small modifications.
the gray is considerably less blue than the Games Workshop 'Official' chapter colours, and instead of yellow shoulder pads I'm using red because it looks far better.

When I get some more Blood Claws (Close Combat assult troops) I'll also need to get some Chain Axes from ForgeWorld instead of those girly chain swords they come with.

Soooo tired now...
