Back from WGT
May. 29th, 2007 05:38 pmSo, back from WGT.
It was good fun and I enjoyed it muchly.
I am, however, not going to read a weeks worth of LJ entries, so if something has happened that I should know about, please text/call/e-mail me about it.
Also, is anyone considering going to the Amphi Festival?
It looks pretty darned good...
I'm very close to convincing myself that I *need* to go...

So far confirmed for M'era Luna:
¦ Nitzer Ebb ¦ In Extremo ¦ Asp ¦ The Birthday Massacre ¦ Funker Vogt ¦
Hmmm, Wacken is looking really good so far, but I'm gonna wait and see about M'era Luna...

It's fun
No snow :(
Myself and

However, persistance was met with success when someone else did the same with the late flight and we managed to get two stand by seats. Victory. And a right royal financial shafting by Ryan Air and a cabbie which didn't get us to the airport in time. Oh well, that was a wasted £100 >_<
We went to the Pre-Party at Tech Noir which was quite good.
We walked in and

I saw the beer prices and almost started crying :]
But yeah, so far it's all good although all our electronics have run out of juice due to us not having brought any power converters and not yet having been able to find one to buy.
So no more texting/picture snapping from us.

Oct. 13th, 2005 12:09 pmAnd again...
Since I'm no good at writing long entries I thought I'd make this one in soundbite format.
flannelcat is a mastercook and if he ever offers to make food for you I'll suggest you say yes.
Kangaroo meat is very tasty. Definitely worth trying again.
gelflyng is very funny when she's trying to eat while a bit tipsy. She also doesn't take very well to being tickled :]
penguin_worships mother is very nice to talk to on the phone and apparently I have now become 'Mother Liaison Officer' and all calls from said mother will be forwarded to my mobile.
gothicbarbiecat can now expect a visit from me on the 10th of November. Tickets have been booked and everfing...
Tinitus is a go. Festival tickets and Plane tickets have been purchased.
spikey_bastard, get that passport sorted out. You only have a bit over a month to get it sorted...
Good lord my bank account has been pillaged as if it was an English abbey back in the viking days...
As we all know the Starwars prequels sucked mighty wang. In a perfect world Joss Whedon would have made them and they would have been unsucky.
Serenity is one of the best sci-fi movies I have ever seen. I think it's even made it into my top 20 movie list of all times.
Joss Whedon is truly my new master...
And whether you like the movie or not, if you like sci-fi you must go and buy the Firefly DVD box set. Only £17.99 from HMV...
Garlic & Shots on Friday. Oh look at the collective surprise...
Not a big one. Just a meal and a few drinks. Definitely the last tube home...
Anyone coming along?

Wacken 2006
Sep. 27th, 2005 12:19 pmOk, I know that Wacken is 310 days away, but I'm already spaffing furiously.
Both Subway To Sally and In Extremo have confirmed their attendance.
As if there could be any doubt that I wanted to go :)

Sep. 26th, 2005 09:51 amI suppose a quick weekend rundown is in order.
Friday I went to see The Thought Criminals at The Caernavon(sp?) Castle in Camden.
I thoroughly enjoyed them as they didn't seem to take themselves too seriously and the music was enjoyable. Good fun.
Left when the next band came on.
No matter how badly the lead singer wanted to be Anthony Kiedis they couldn't overcome the fact that they had no discernable talent.
And just cranking up the volume to headache inducing levels does not help either. And just as a headache was beginning to appear we (
blakeshell + OH + My good self) left to go to Dance of The Dead.
As the venue was cleverly disguised and not signposted we managed to go past it twice and when we finally found it I had to go home... Hmmph.
Saturday was spent at work and then of to White Hart in Holborn to roll up new D&D characters.Nice pub but hideously expensive. I generally don't like paying over £3 for a pint.
Our great and just DM let us roll 7 ability scores and disregard the lowest. Amazingly all of us managed to roll really ow on the 7th roll.
Dammit. My dice are cursed. 10, 11, 12, 12 15 and 16 are reasonable stats I suppose. I'll definitely be a sorceror, but I haven't decided on my second class. Possibly Warmage, but we shall see. I'm currently researching...
Left to get to The Dev in time for a couple of drinks and then home to sleep and damn that was well needed.
Nightwish gig Sunday (With
elfenkind). Yay. Paradise Lost opened and played a good metal set.
then Nightwish came on. They seem to get better each time I see them. This gig was probably just as good as their set at Wacken but at Wacken I was all the way up close which made it even better.
Chicken Samosa, tube home and sleep.
Now work. Boo to werk...

Sep. 8th, 2005 11:13 amDamn I feel lazy today. Quiet there in the back :)
Tuesday afternoon I was given the important task of wandering the floors like a little lost bear and write down all the asset numbers/Desk Locations/model numbers of all the printers in the building.
I then had to put it into a spreadsheet...
I finally finished today.
I never knew that HP made so many different types of printers. Or that we have all of them.
Or at least that's how it feels.
I am of course now procrastinating as I should really go and fix some problems.
spikey_kris: Get that passport sorted or let me know if you're not coming to Sweden... I'll book my flight + the festival ticket this weekend at the latest. And I would prefer to book the hotel soonish...
long_haired_chris: I have the CD, I'll give it to
spikey_kris when he comes down weekend after next...

Sep. 6th, 2005 10:31 amI have decided that I'm going to Sweden for the Tinitus festival.
One day full of bleepy shit.
Groovy.
There is absolutely no way I can say no to seeing Die Krupps live. I have been waiting nearly a decade for this.
Excellent.
spikey_bastard, make up your mind quickly.
We'll need to book a hotel quick quick...

Arrgghhhhh
Aug. 18th, 2005 06:40 pmWell, I'm back and those bitches at BT had the temerity to disconnect my phoneline while I was away.
Grrr
And when I called them about it, they didn't have a clue as to why it had been done and they were very sorry.
Now that's all well and good, but I now haven't got an internet connection at home Arrgghhh.
So yeah, I haven't been checking e-mails since Thursday last week, and won't be able to check my private e-mail until in another 7 - 10 days when my connection should be working again.
Bloody annoying.
And my dad is visiting, so I probably won't be out and about partying this weekend.
I will try to do a Wacken/Berlin/M'era Luna write up at some point, but suffice to say that I have just had one of my best holidays ever. So many great bands, so many great people I just felt good all the time with no negativity or downward emotions
Does a little happy bear dance

Black Celebration...
Oct. 25th, 2004 11:33 pmFriday saw the arrival of the three scousers who immediately started drinking.
We met up at the wonderful Garlic & Shots for drinks and food.
![[livejournal.com profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/external/lj-userinfo.gif)
Saturday we popped up to Cyberdog in Camden and then back to my place to preen and prepare for Black Celebration.
As

Inside we were greeted by a bouncy

The bands were enjoyable and Funker Vogt rocked. Alot.
Afterwards we quickly went home to get booze and swiftly went to Slimes. Slimes was good and I enjoyed it muchly. I think I may start going to Slimes a bit more often again. Saw lots of people and had lots of conversations which I have mostly forgotten again. Funny how the details from my nights at Slimes are usually hazy the next day.
Sunday was good too.

Went to the Dev afterwards and had a last couple of beers before heading home for some serious sleeping.
Still tired from too much beer, and not enough sleep, but it was well worth it.
A glorious weekend filled with much honour and victory.

Jun. 15th, 2003 02:45 pmDamn I feel great. I feel absolutely fan-bloody-tastic.
Probably the only downside at the moment is that I'm stuck in Ye Olde Scummy Hellhole rather than being in London, but once I have a few more certifications, that should hopefully be rectifiable. And I don't care if I just made that word up :)
All in all I feel so good that I suspect I'm disqualified from being a goth ;)
RAR
- Beergut is getting noticably smaller (No beer + Situps++)
- I'm getting muscles again (Weights++)
- The weather is fantastic (Lack of air-con--)
- I'm actually studying for my certifications rather than just talking about studying :)
- I have the best constitution on the planet (I could probably get SARS, AIDS, cancer and The Plague all at once and my body would fight it off)
- My Starcraft skills are excellent (I have just had three games against the maximum number of computer opponents and they were soundly thrashed)
- I am so confident in my quest to quit smoking that I've thrown out all my ash trays (Nicotine patches++)
- My financial situation is the best it's ever been
- I have tickets for M'era Luna, Infest and Whitby
- I have even managed to find a pair of glasses that fit me (I have a funny shaped skull, so glasses have never really been a good option before)

Weekend write-up
Jun. 10th, 2003 01:02 amIf memory serves me right....
Met
nailbug friday evening in the Swan and went back to my place. The rest of the weekend was spent more or less in bed watching DVDs and occassionally getting up for food. Went to Lidl where I found proper rye bread (Yay) and then went back and watched some more DVDs. Then went to work Monday. Nice and relaxing.
I'm fairly sure I did something else and I'm quite sure that I could write more, but I'm tired...
Who's going?
And will you be camping?
And would those who are both going and camping be interested in pitching tent together?
I'm already in the process of arranging a camp with some other people I know, but the more the merrier...
