Well, that was a shit gig.
The only good thing was the company.

I would have been better off staying at home, listening to a live CD with the heating on full and several guys dry humping me...

But seriously, it was exactly like listening to a CD but nothing more.
Was it worth the £22.50? No.
Would it have been worth £10? No.
To be quite honest, I have seen better shows by amateur bands at The Barfly in Camden for a fiver.

Yes, I know that I can't expect all bands to put on shows as good as Nightwish or Rammstein but they could at least try...

But at least the company was great. [livejournal.com profile] blakeshell and two WINOLJ girls.
It was, however, fun trying to be a human wave breaker protecting the girls from being squashed (Especially with one of them having something in the oven). [livejournal.com profile] blakeshell also proved to be a knight as always.
Oh well, at least I have Nightwish to look forwards to in august and September...

Well NIN are studio band. I don't understand why people see them live because that's all they are. I remember seeing them live on TV ages ago, and that was sadium and they put up a bollox act, that was when I thought I'll give them a miss. music is too angst for me anyway.

Thanks.
It was actually a collaboration between myself and [livejournal.com profile] blakeshell so I shouldn't get full credit...

Ask Trent for a refund ;)

I have to say they were quite good a few years ago when I saw them at a festival back home in NZ. It's a shame they sucked for you. Go see U2 - excellent live act! ;)

Nah, I don't need a refund from Trent as much as I need one from Lucas ;)
But I'm not gonna go out of my way to see them again.
Maybe I just expect too much from bands I pay £22.50 to see...

NIN

Yo dude, you must have been to another concert.
It sounded like you were determined not to have a good time from the start.
Everybody I went with, & spoke to after, totally agreed it was a tremendous gig. NIN are just a highly polished band, and considering what goes into their music, I'm amazed they can produce so brilliantly live.

Christ, you say you're actually looking forward to a Nightwish gig? I can't even stand to listen to them on cd!

Well, everyone has their own tastes, don't they?

Some of us actually like Nightwish.

I've been waiting 11 years to go to this gig, so I don't think it was a matter of not wanting to have a good time.
My point is that I might as well have been listening to a CD.
A good live band should be showmen...

And Nightwish rocks immensely \m/
And they are proper showmen...

I thought they rocked.

Their stage music adopts a whole different character to studio material. And as someone noted above, its complexity makes performing it live particularly challenging.

And I felt their presentation was extremely slick - the new band's come together great.

Sorry you didn't have a good time. I hope Nightwish meets your expectations. But I'm glad you enjoyed Rammsteim - we can agree on the merits on their show at the Academy. :)

The two girls I was there with were in awe.
I just expected a bit ...more...

And yeah, Rammstein \m/
