Clue 3: "Ah. Right then. Rounding the end of the trailer, ducking past the open doors, I peered inside. Instantly, my stomach tried to make an emergency exit through my mouth. Biting my lower lip, breathing low and shallow through my nose, I clambered onto the footplate. My soles made a noise like a spoon in treacle as I stepped up. The trailer was enormous, the kind used for meat transport. Perhaps unfortunately, the refrigeration unit hadn’t been used. My left foot slurped as I took a step forward, suck-squelching through two inches of what looked like tomato puree. It smelled like an abattoir. Smeared crimson handprints looped across the left hand panel. By the size it was a child. Great sprays arced up the walls, terminating at the roof."
