Note to self:
When in a comms room, one should always make sure that one pulls out the correct network cable from the switch.
And if one fails to do so, make a hasty exit and pretend not to have been in there.
Ooops :)

And yet another person has fallen before the might of Stargate: SG1. I forced persuaded my good friend Iselle to watch the first episode and now she's hooked. Mwahahahahaaaaa
Her BF is going away travelling for 2 weeks, so we are going to see if we can get through the first 7 seasons in that time.
While watching this marvellous bit of sci-fi we had some rather magnificently delicious food. Spag Bol with lots and lots of added goodies.
[livejournal.com profile] flannelcat, [livejournal.com profile] penguin_worship and Georgie can confirm or deny this claim as they had it before I went to Germany and they seemed to like it. I really should do this cooking for others thing more often. If only I had a big kitchen with a decent electrical oven/stove then it would be far easier. And if only not so many of my friends were vegetarian it would be easier to cook for them...

Before pulling out all cables do make sure that they are individually labelled so that when you come to put them all back you know which one went where.

The bits I've seen of SG1 the acting was so wooden I imagine that the entire cast have a morbid fear of woopeckers.

Well, yeah, they're not gonna win any Oscars, but I like it :)

The labelling bit is important indeed.
In this case it was just two cables fortunately :)

It's not hard to cook for veggies, just buy the soya meat stuff (Quorn etc.) and do the same recipe with that. I like Beanfeast as well, as it's great for making thos Old El Paso nachos and things.

Yeah, I know there is the Quorn stuff, but the juices in the meat add to the taste and I'm not sure how to simulate that if I'm not using meat...

Your spag bol is indeed delicious sir. But surely your talents would stretch to a meatles version for the veggies?

Am back on sunday morning from Kabul...hope to make it to the gym in the afternoon after a kip...so maybe see you there? If not sooon during the week - been too long.

*hugs*

Aye, it has been, but that's the way it is for us jet setters who are away all the time :)
I won't be gymming Sunday or Monday as I'm having my back lasered tomorrow, and I shouldn't do anything strenous for a few days.

Gym tonight then geeking.
Sat: Gym in the morning, then more back lasering in the afternoon and birthday drinks at the Dev around 8. Fancy coming along? Slimes is an almost certainty...
Sunday will be spent recuperating and Monday I'll be at work.

And you?

Being officially knackered by staying up late at Vamp Connex last night I may fail to make it out tonight although there aer several clubs on.

Whose birthday is it tomorrow at Dev???

Ben is trying to make it back in time for drinks on Sunday at Dev.

I'll be doing tax returns and other stupid things apart from that.

I don't know if you know her.
Her name is Katie and she's Karins GF. She's also a friend of Deborah who was at your birthday drinks at the Marlborough Head...

You know what? I can just see it. When you come over to visit me, instead of going out and having a good time we sit indoors watching Stargate. And other sci-fi stuff.

And I'm not saying that like it's a bad thing. :))))

I could very easily imagine that as well :)

The last time I went to see [livejournal.com profile] naziboy we went out one night and spent most of the rest of my stay watching movies and Sci-Fi.
Also some pants cop shows.

Those shows are just getting better all the time. I thought after Farscape life as I know it was over, but then came along Stargate Atlantis, Season 9 SG1 and Battlestar Galactica. :)

Oh yeah, BG just rocks.
It's amazing how Starbucks can be an ugly hag in some situation and a stunning beauty in others.
I'm still not entirely convinced by Atlantis. The wraith must find out that they are still there and then they could quite happily come back...
But I still enjoy watching it and everything else in my download queue is put on hold when the latest episodes are available :)
And I'm happy SG1 got better after a slightly weak season or two (Can't remember which one) and season 9 just looks fantastic so far.

Starbuck is cute, rough looking or on a good-face-day, I wouldn't kick her out of bed.

The Wraith are a rather lame enemy I have to admit (they *look* so farkin sexy/goth though!), but I like all the interaction between the people on Atlantis like the comical Dr McKay and the blossoming romance between Ronan and Tayla.

Season 9 has a smidgen of Farscape sense of humour. Although not as sick and twisted - I guess it's Ben and Claudia's fault!

At first I was really trying to figure out where I had seen Ben before.
It wasn't until you mentioned it somewhere that I realised he was from Farscape :)
I'm really happy that Dr McKay is so much better in Atlantis. In SG1 he was just annoying, but now he's a usefull member of the team.

And Dr McKay is also wonderful comic relief with all his insecurities and cowardice! :)))

And being Canadian helps too, hehe.

SPOILER ALERT: As for SG1, I'm sure we'll see Claudia again later in the series!

My fingers are firmly crossed.
If she got a series of her own I'd happily watch it no matter how dire :)

Call it "Varla the Wicked", or something. ;)

"And newt week on Varla the Wicked, Varla sees how many wicked things she can do to Michael Shanks"
I would soooo tape that episode :)

From: [identity profile] themadcatlady.livejournal.com
Oooh Varla and..... mmmmh... actually, I really don't know what she sees in Daniel. He doesn't even *dress* well or anything. I'd understand her going for T'ealc (a REAL MAN!) or sexy Mitchell, but not woossy Daniel. I can't even imagine him in fetish/goth/PVC gear.

I guess he was *there* when she was horny back on the Prometheus when they first met and things went from there... ;)

But then, it would be a great comedy episode with Varla dressing him up and stuff. *grins wickedly*

Maybe we should write to the Stargate writers and suggest this. :)

Good heavens, I can just imagine it. Varla/Daniel slash-fic by Barbarella... :)

I think it's very understandable that she would go for Daniel. He is after all a geek who can take care of himself in many situations and there was an episode where you see him and Teal'c do weights and he's got a bit of muscle under the scruffe clothes :)
And yes, Teal'c was a real man before he grow that daft looking hair. I mean really, what was he thinking...
