Oct. 20th, 2006 01:35 pmI'm relaxed and in Brighton.
Currently thinking of having a drive up the coast and go to the gym on the way back.
We've been watching Charmed (Well, I've been surfing, reading LJ and so on).
This episode is about how the world has always been sort of split into an evil world and a good world (ours) and they have been in existence next to each other in a sort of yin/yang way.
It kinda annoys me that the good witches are wearing pastels and the 'evil' witches are wearing all black and looks pretty damn hot...
It also really annoys me that they assume that our world is the good world. Personally I would've thought it's the other way around.
It does make me curious about one thing. If good on our world is evil on that world and vice versa, what would British and American foreign policy be like inn that other world. It would be an interesting thought experiment to muse on what might be happening.
Are we helping countries instead of bombing them?
Helping the 3rd world out of poverty instead of keeping it down...
And another thing...
The ads are bloody awful. Almost every ad is for loan agencies trying to lend you money or 're-structuring' your debt.
No wonder there is such a high level of debt in this country...

Date: 2006-10-20 01:08 pm (UTC)My housemate and I have planned a solution to the loan ads - we'll get everyone who runs them and stars into them into a big TV studio and every time the 'applause' sign lights up, the audience throw grenades and fireworks and acid at the hapless twats. It makes us feel better.

Date: 2006-10-20 01:32 pm (UTC)Pastel is certainly not GOOD. Stupid show. REAL witches usually wear *vibrant* colours like reds, greens and royal blues. Mixed with black of course. Certainly not pastels.
I also think the baddies always look hot because they always get the bestest costumes to wear. Except in The Matrix of course. ;)

Date: 2006-10-20 01:51 pm (UTC)In the show the witches are suppost to be the most powerful beings on earth, but they are trying to lead normal lives, this is why they tend to not wear the traditional "witch" colours...the colours worn are suppost to help emphasise the powers a with already has and show confidence etc, these witches already have this so don't need the boost. Any other with in the show, the lower level witches do happen to wear alot of bright colours though, unless they start off not knowing they are a witch.

Date: 2006-10-20 01:38 pm (UTC)Reminds me of Buffy and "Evil Willow"
UK & US foreign policy - much more like dropping aid packages etc?
The other thing - oh, couldn't agree more, especially with re-mortgages cunning disguised as 'loans' with the house as equity.

Date: 2006-10-20 10:29 pm (UTC)And yeah, dropping insta-pop-up-skools and aid-packs instead of destroying infrastructure and killing civilians...

Date: 2006-10-21 10:45 pm (UTC)Of course there could be an ironic drop in the aid - insta-skool lands on, and squishes, the kids playing in a field.

Date: 2006-10-20 03:10 pm (UTC)i do love charmed (albeit in a "christ, when did i learn to suspend my disbelief so well" kinda way), & my dad always catches me watching it intently when he gets back from work... he's never pleased. rants at how he thought he'd raised me better than to watch "trash" like that (!). :( i don't argue back, i'm too busy trying to follow the plot to even listen... but it is a ridiculously trashy show.
the adverts are another point he raises, but that's where i do agree with him 100% - i think they're downright immoral actually.
the loan/"debt consolidation" companies know their demographic well (cynical, opportunistic bastards that they are): people who are out of work, with mounting debts, looking for a way out of paying large amounts each month. and if they manage to get "that smart woman" carol vorderman or "that nice, down-to-earth bloke" phil tuffnal (sp) to pimp their services, all the better. same goes with "yes car credit" (like i said, i watch living tv a lot when at my dad's!).
all those companies do is increase the debts yet spread them out over a much longer period, but for people who are struggling to buy decent food for their families, that option seems worth it.
absolute bastards. :(
on a lighter note, if you're in front of the tv tonight at around midnight, most haunted should be on. WATCH IT. it is the awesome of awesomes. yes, trashy & ridiculous, but still, awesomes. ;D
oh &, um, sorry for ranting in your lj!
